Overview
Songwriter Buddy ("the app") is a songwriting practice tool. Your songs, lyrics, chords, recordings, and sheet music are stored locally on your device by default. If you choose to sign in, your songs, lyrics, chords, set lists, and sheet music are synced to your own private cloud account so you can access them on other devices. Audio recordings always stay on the device they were made on and are never uploaded.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your content for advertising.
Information we collect
- Account information — If you sign in, we collect your email address (via an emailed sign-in code) to identify your account.
- User content — Songs, lyrics, chords, notes, set lists, and sheet music that you create in the app. If you are signed in, these are stored in your private cloud account so they sync across your devices.
- Audio recordings — When you tap Record, the app uses your device microphone. Recordings are saved on your device only and are not uploaded to the cloud.
How we use information
- To provide the app's core features (organize songs, sync across your devices).
- To authenticate you when you sign in.
- To store and retrieve your content when you use cloud sync.
Local storage
Without an account, all data stays on your device using local browser or app storage. We do not receive that data unless you sign in and choose to sync.
Third-party services
If you sign in, authentication and cloud sync are provided by Supabase. Sign-in emails may be sent through our email provider. These services process data only to operate the app on your behalf.
Data retention and deletion
Your synced data remains in your account until you delete it in the app or delete your account. Local data remains on your device until you remove the app or clear app data.
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Account → Danger zone → Delete account. This immediately and permanently deletes your account and all songs, lyrics, chords, set lists, and sheet music synced to your cloud account. This cannot be undone. Recordings, which are always stored only on your device, are unaffected — remove the app to delete those.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
